He is not afraid of being a physical presence. His mobility is an asset. Technically, his first touch will need improvement, along with his ability to finish with consistency to go to the next level

Senior Steven McCarthy became the first player in Capital University soccer history to be receive All-America recognition twice in a career when he was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Third Team on Dec. 11. McCarthy was the first Crusader menís soccer player to become an NSCAA All-America pick in 2007

 

2009: named the 2009 OAC Forward of the Year and became the Ohio Athletic Conference all-time leader in career goals scored and points scored during his senior season.  He had 69 goals and 156 points to his credit for the four time All-OAC First Team selection.  McCarthy is just the fourth player in school history to be named All-OAC First Team in all four seasons and the first Crusader ever to be named the OAC Forward of the Year in back-to-back seasons.  This season, McCarthy led the OAC while ranking fifth nationally in goals scored and sixth in points scored.  His 24 goals in and 55 points in 2009 are the third most in the history of the conference.  McCarthy was also in the pool of available players for the 2010 MLS Superdraft.
